Eyeline Studios in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Global streaming giant Netflix has announced the launch of Eyeline Studios in Hyderabad, marking a significant long-term investment in India’s rapidly expanding Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector.

The launch of Eyeline Studios represents an important step in Netflix’s strategy to expand its global production innovation infrastructure while strengthening its presence in India’s creative technology ecosystem.

The new Eyeline Studios facility in Hyderabad is expected to play a critical role in supporting advanced visual effects and innovation-led production capabilities.

The move further positions India as a key destination for global entertainment companies seeking talent and technology expertise in digital storytelling and immersive media.

Hyderabad Emerging as a Creative Technology Hub

Speaking at the launch event of Eyeline Studios, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, highlighted Hyderabad’s rising prominence as a hub for creative technologies, audiovisual storytelling, and digital entertainment.

He noted that the city has emerged as a vibrant centre of talent and innovation, supported by a rapidly expanding media and entertainment ecosystem. According to Jaju, Eyeline Studios will contribute to strengthening Hyderabad’s position in the global creative technology landscape.

India’s storytelling tradition, he said, continues to evolve with advancements in technology and digital platforms.

“India has a rich tradition of storytelling, but the formats and platforms of storytelling are rapidly evolving with technological advancements. Today, entertainment lies at the intersection of art and technology, and initiatives such as Eyeline will play a significant role in shaping the future of storytelling.”

Eyeline Studios to Support Innovation in Storytelling

Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, Jaju said Eyeline Studios will serve as an important creative and technological centre for South Asia.

By integrating technological innovation with storytelling, the studio is expected to open new opportunities across the audiovisual and entertainment sectors.

The launch of Eyeline Studios also reflects the increasing convergence between creative arts and advanced technologies such as visual effects, virtual production, and digital animation, which are becoming central to global content production.

Focus on the “Orange Economy”

Jaju also referred to the World Audiovisual Entertainment Summit held in Mumbai last year, where Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of the “Orange Economy,” which focuses on creative and cultural industries as drivers of economic growth.

He highlighted that the Union Budget has announced the establishment of 15,000 content creator labs in schools and 500 in colleges across the country.

These initiatives are expected to generate nearly two million jobs in the creative sector, strengthening India’s talent pipeline for industries such as animation, gaming, and visual effects.

In this context, the presence of Eyeline Studios is expected to further enhance India’s capacity for high-end digital production and creative innovation.

Hyderabad’s Strong AVGC Ecosystem

Jaju expressed confidence that Hyderabad will play a significant role in the growth of India’s AVGC sector due to its well-established production ecosystem.

The city has already hosted globally recognised film projects, including the blockbuster franchise Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which demonstrated India’s capabilities in large-scale visual storytelling.

Hyderabad is also home to several international studios engaged in film production and post-production services, making it a natural destination for global companies like Netflix to expand their innovation and production operations through Eyeline Studios.

Strengthening the Creative Technology Ecosystem

Further strengthening the ecosystem, Jaju announced that the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) will soon establish a regional campus in Hyderabad.

The institute is expected to provide specialised training and research opportunities in creative technologies and digital content creation.

The presence of Eyeline Studios, combined with the upcoming IICT campus and the city’s strong film industry, is expected to accelerate the growth of India’s creative economy.

Opportunities for the Telugu Film Industry

Jaju also noted that Hyderabad’s vibrant Telugu film industry, which produces several pan-India and multilingual films, stands to benefit from the arrival of global platforms and innovation-driven studios.

With Eyeline Studios now operational, the collaboration between international streaming platforms and local creative talent is expected to unlock new opportunities for high-quality content creation and advanced production techniques in India’s audiovisual sector.
